...then put him back. Sadly, I never got the chance. I live in Pittsburgh, and two weeks ago we got our first cold spell. I haven't seen him since. Either he migrated somewhere warm, or he's passed away.

...the mirror. He learned to detect the sounds of my window opening, or the car engine revving up. I would get in for my morning commute and watch him scurry up to his hiding spot every day.

I resolved to go the extra mile if/when I decided to get a car wash. The plan was to capture him in a jar...

Spider-Bro hung on to my window all Spring and all Summer long, catching bugs, occasionally rebuilding his web, never losing his grip.

But here's the kicker: spiders are smart. And over time, Spider-Bro learned to avoid the dangerous wind. He would crawl up his web and hide in the crevace behind...

(In other words, opening the door or window did not disturb the web).

As an experiment, I left it on for my morning commute. The little guy held on! He survived, holding onto his web, swaying in the wind, flapping back-and-forth like the tip of a flag.

I decided to leave him be.
