The model doesn't know this team like we do, so it still thinks we could win two or three or even four (preposterous!) more games. Here is the full distribution of draft pick probabilities, just in case something bizarre like winning happens.

Nice to see some Dallas Cowboys fans and media here. I see there is some concern about whether tanking (ie playing to the best of our ability) will be enough to get a top pick. Here's what I got from 100K sims and a basic Elo model. If we lose out, top 3 is very likely, probably pick 2.

Oh and maybe something about how fast they are? Here is the distribution of PBs relative to the OTQ. Lots of men just snuck under, while the women’s field covers a fuller range of times.

13 schools are sending at least 4 alums to Orlando. Quite a few of the athletes specified that they didn’t run in college when listing their school or that they played a different sport (like gymnast Gabi Rooker and a bunch of soccer players).

Tracksmith supports more athletes than any other brand, by a wide margin. This data is just self-reported affiliation. The LOC’s site doesn’t say who has a contract or, you know, health insurance. But who needs that stuff when you have free Brighton Base Layers?

Despite what the lamestream media wants you to think, just 22 of the 269 marathoners reside in Flag or Boulder (11 each), though Colorado as a whole boasts 44 residents in the race. For those slumming it at sea level, Boston tops the list (9).

Fun with data scraped from the US Olympic Trials athlete bios. First, hometowns. You can see the influence of growing up near a major marathon or, well, in Minnesota. 5 athletes list Kenyan hometowns and Eritrea, Tigray, Zimbabwe, and Germany are home to one athlete each.

Do people here do running shoe reviews? I’ve got 500km on the Puma Deviate 2 so here are some thoughts. Very comfy, fairly snappy, A+ outsole, great value and durability. I like them for long and easy runs, but you could definitely race a marathon or half if you don’t want to spend on super shoes.
