Heartening evidence - this time from @stellacreasy.bsky.social in the Guardian - that the blockage towards better relations with Europe is the exceptionalists at the heart of UKG and the pro-European movement as much as Brexiters.

The mistake many in Labour are making is to think in tribal terms. What matters is a question of fact: can it fix the economy & public services? It should do whatever it takes to achieve these, & worry about factionalism later. Whether it can do this is another issue.

We had to protect ourselves. We did. And since then on areas like issuing debt, defence commissioner Ukraine funding, vaccine procurement and covid recovery we've been able to respond in a way that would have been impossible with UK at the table.
