It’s too easy, that’s the problem. It ends up in a kind of liberal backslapping exercise but doesn’t change anything. You’re right. Nixon was a much more ambivalent and complex figure in comparison. Trump is a cartoon so not interesting when critiqued in a film.

Ha! More likely it’s a fine entertainment. I don’t expect a masterpiece. And anyway, when Liverpool lose to West Ham, as they will, the Liverpool patter will overtake it. 😂

I’d forgotten just how funny it is. I laughed several times by the end of the first brief chapter. Comic sentences just perfectly crafted for maximum amusement whilst still deepening understanding of character and setting. A masterclass in writing.
