Backing up my laptop to change OS, and found these tests I did to see what has the biggest impact on satellite call quality. Not super empirical, but it was least thorough.
The margins were pretty thin for how badly you could set it up before it didn't work

Patreon don't tell people there's criminals on your platform, think of the investors!

Very funny that I go to read an article about internet outages, and the site is down.

I feel like there's been so many outages this year that no one cares about trying to get high uptime stats now

Finished building the dresser last night. It's not rock solid, but I wanted it for the clever soft close mechanism, so the drawers don't slam.
Now I just need to clean up the packaging and put board games in the old one.

Building an Ikea chest of drawers and these screws remain my least favourite part. They are so fiddly and and never go in straight enough.
And I need to make 8 of them line up!

This tangent makes it look like Agumon is wearing black stockings lol

I eventually fixed the archive to open with HFSExplorer.
(not ISOBuster the paid program used by VGHF)
Here's a high res Crash Bandicoot as proof.

I definitely want to make this easier and just require 7zip, because I don't need yet another program on my PC

This collection of video game press assets is really cool. First two images are from Brave Fencer Musashi. Now I just need to work out how to mount the CDs to get the actual assets buff.ly/fPQAplu

Saw some terracotta soldiers in front of Council House today.

Thought they might've been made by the guy who does other red statues, but they're silk lanterns by the Beijing Chaoyang International Cultural Exchange Association visit.museum.wa.gov.au/boolabardip/...

The other weekend I went to Midland Records to finally pick up my copy of Jamie Page's Constant Companions.

They had a larger range than I expected, with a fair few anime and game OSTs. There was even a Cassette Beasts record there!
Bit outside my price range for regular purchases though.

Hell yeah, a Mamdani win.
Also Adams got like nothing lol

I'm hearing that the crystal people are now willingly bathing themselves in EMF because someone repackaged it as overpriced monitors that play Matrix screensavers at you.
Unsurprisingly the creators and sellers are suing each other buff.ly/24YAMfQ

Last night I heard bland 2000s pop from my place even with windows closed. Play something spookier you cowards!

Here's the best decorations I saw for Halloween. Something weird's going on culturally as I feel like there was even less Halloween theming around Perth than last year

Either these people are stupid or they've been exposed to too much anti-renewable propaganda.

With efficient enough panels and blades of course a solar powered drone was going to be possible. There's not an anti-electronics aura around solar panels!

Keyboard customisation software has a really bad habit of overlapping jargon with existing terms (how is hold vs. tap "quantum"). Also don't like how the VIAL devs evade documentation responsibility for a bunch of settings they've renamed from the QMK docs!

This is why you don't buy gold when everyone is telling you "buy gold!!!"

Writing this kind of spiel for a Celeron laptop with no GPU in 2025 is insane. None of the specs come close to justifying $2000USD. They must have been paid off to promo like this, or they are mixing it up with another model.

Apparently this was last night, and only like a few hundred metres from my place and I couldn't hear it at all?
The noisiest thing here is occasional fireworks, the ventilation system, and the upstairs neighbours lol

Thank you World Bank, I don't know where we would be without revelatory insights like "when people grow older they reach working age"

lmao the retraction of a retraction. I keep running into comments trying to downplay the bigoted shit DHH keeps saying.
Definitely an annoying playbook from both the worst people and the proudly ignorant anti-politics crowd

There's now a reduce() function in #Obsidian bases, so I'm one step closer to replicating Notion, I just need to work out a neat + compact way to do averages.
In the mean time summarise can do most calculations

Playing a game on my new keyboard feels weird, either wasd doesn't work on this layout or I've not played games in so long my hands hate the posture.
Hopefully setting up a layer like this helps with the problem (basically just moving all the keys over by one column)

Who thought it was a good idea to let thousands of people write their keyboard configs to a centralised repo. The keyboards directory has thousands of folders inside it. There's ~24 automations to handle all the issues and pull requests this repo generates and they even merge automatically!

Wrote an #Obsidian bases formula to display date related notes in a hierarchical manner.
So you get links to the next/previous date and then any dates above.
Some periodic review/journal addons did this, but bases is faster and it means one less add-on

Went to Tokyo Alley 5 today and ran into some old friends, so I had a great time catching up with them.

Didn't buy anything (I'm picky and there was a lack of vtuber/older anime stuff), but I at least got some photos of cosplay this time including a Gura cosplayer
