Trump himself has been convicted of 34 felonies and is the first criminal elected president.
The worst single-day crime spree in modern Washington history, of course, took place on Jan. 6, 2021. Trump issued no order to the National Guard to intervene -- Mike Pence did -- and later pardoned the perpetrators.
Citing a nonexistent crime crisis, Trump plans to take over the Washington DC police and put troops in the streets of the nation's capital. Contrary to his claims, violent crime in DC is at a 30-year low. @katierogersnyt.bsky.social Campbell Robertson Chris Cameron www.nytimes.com/live/2025/08...

What makes these controversies extra extraordinary is that those minimizing Soviet and Russian tyranny are often the same ones who consider themselves defenders of national sovereignty against the real or imagined diktats of Brussels.

Curious, isn't it?

Don’t worry — now you’ll only have to spend $50 to $150 extra in taxes, per child, for holiday gifts

While Trump got a $400 million holiday gift early from Qatar

Because he matters way more than your kids — right?

Yes, and if the history of military conflict teaches us anything, it's that shooting the people in your own trenches is definitely a winning strategy
I don't give a shit who says it, but Dems need far fewer conflict adverse geriatrics that don't have the energy to fight. It's a political war right now and we need more people that act like it.

Trump told us the plan today: The Trump administration wants the prison in El Salvador — and, perhaps, others — to hold Americans.

Importantly, Vance, Rubio, and Bondi did not appear surprised or upset by this news — in fact, it did not appear to be news to them at all. This is the plan.

Law Dork:
Trump told us the horrifying reason why Kilmar Abrego Garcia is not back in the U.S.
The Trump administration wants to send Americans to foreign prisons. Keeping Abrego Garcia in El Salvador is key to that lawless plan.

President Trump may soon try to invoke the “Insurrection Act” to trigger the ability to use the military for domestic law enforcement.

Today’s “One First” offers an overview of the statute; how it’s been used; and what might happen if Trump tries to use it now:

142. Five Questions About Domestic Use of the Military
The federal government's authorities to use the military for domestic law enforcement are old, broad, and vague. They may soon become far more relevant than they've been for quite a long time.

There's something weird happening where The Discourse about the tariffs is about how Trump is trying to return us to 1950's and 1960's, the manufacturing heyday of America, but he's not! He' been very very explicit about this. He wants to return us to the 1890's. That's a different project!
