…This is an incredibly needed piece that takes a sharp, honest, and critical look at how we got here and just how damaging car-centric SYSTEMS are to our health, mobility, and planet. I’m humbled and honored to be included.

…I now have a van to shuttle around my art to markets. And. I primarily walk, bike, and take transit to get around - for reasons that are clearly named throughout this book.

This is not car shaming.…

Help people feel what it is ACTUALLY like by hosting audits/lived experience events. This audit was in partnership with AARP California and America Walks. #Accessibility #SanJose #PedestrianSafety #ClimateAction #Walkability

Please share to help spread awareness. Audits that focus on practical pedestrian behavior make waves - especially when you organize them with residents, elected officials & those working in public transportation/transit agencies. There are endless “aha”, “I had no idea” moments.

Yeah, we definitely need more cross-agency, cross-disciplinary collaboration. It’s why I always push for hosting audits/lived experience events and having a variety of representatives/participants.

Each event will focus on the VAST benefits of moving more the way we’re made - with others, with the world around us, with ourselves. They will also focus heavily on pedestrian 👩🏿‍🦽👩🏽‍🦼🧑🏾‍🦯🚶‍♀️🚏🚴🏾 and mobility justice advocacy.

A week from today I’ll be helping to kick-off a one-of-a-kind “WALKtober” campaign in Providence, RI alongside my good friend Garrett Brumfield!

🎙️ Share this campaign with your elected officials to help them PRIORITIZE practical, everyday mobility for all who must (or choose to) get around by foot, on a wheelchair, by bike, by skateboard, and by bus.

🎙️ Y’all. #WeekWithoutDriving starts TODAY. And. For millions of people. It is EVERY DAY.

🎙️ For those who primarily drive ➡️ do try to 👏replace 👏 those 👏 trips - all week, a couple of days, one day. More decision-making bodies (and the driving public) need to FEEL what it’s like.
