Understood. But when you have $7.7 trillion of federal debt it may make more sense bringing that down a bit first. States may be in surplus. Trump really not

They are. But sovereign wealth is generally a precondition

Also - given the size of the US debt limit - hilarious

America (and to some extent the UK) trashed its international brand with the war on terror, but it still had allies that felt their interests were served within the US zone of influence. This will shake loose the outer tier - not alone but much reduced - far less trust, cooperation, and soft power

Suspect that the 7% also concentrated in Cardiff and Swansea?
January 13, 2025 at 3:18 PM
I get that, and I try to be careful - Putin not Russians, Bibi not Israelis, republicans not democrats. But the sense that we are allies, that we see global issues through the same lens - I think that’s crumbling. Obviously I can only speak for my little London bubble, but that’s the feeling

I don’t think it’s pity, but alienation. We have our share of dodgy politicians but voting for this guy just bewildering.

After being culturally dominant for decades, now it’s abortion bans, school shootings, and Ten Commandments in school.

We’ve never felt more different from you.

Personally not torn at all - she has no status, has no credibility, says nothing of interest, and this shibboleth of left wing media bias does not remotely constitute news.
