“Be prudent, be wise, be careful that your use of AI does not limit your true human growth,” [the Pope] told the students. “Use it in such a way that if it disappeared tomorrow, you would still know how to think, how to create, how to act on your own, how to form authentic friendships.” 💯
Pope Leo XIV told students not to use artificial intelligence for homework, saying that AI ‘won’t stand in authentic wonder before the beauty of God’s creation.’

Two Valdai-boys and a bunch of people I've never heard of -- and I've been in this field 30+ years -- scribbled out the letter against Dr. Hill's analysis. I would gladly sign on to the one referenced below, which is actually accurate.
On 13 June, @theguardian.com published a collective letter concerning Russia’s war & attacking Dr #FionaHill, the chancellor of Durham University & one of the principal authors of the UK’s strategic defence review. As UK-based or British-educated experts in matters pertaining to Russia, we disagree.
There is only one warmonger on the European stage: Vladimir Putin | Letter
Letter: Experts on Russia, Ukraine and international security respond to a letter that criticised Fiona Hill for her assessment of the Russian threat to Britain

Olson didn’t just study counterintelligence—he lived it. Breaking KGB tails, tapping cables in Moscow, and running ops across continents? That’s real spycraft, not Hollywood. When he talks, it pays to listen. #CIA #Spycraft #NationalSecurity #counterintelligence www.dvidshub.net/news/411575/...

Comment from Russian Spy Class paper: "I leave this semester with a newfound paranoia and distrust of people but better informed on what to expect if my neighbor truly does turn out to be the next big Russian spy case." Job well done.

Does Vance have any idea of what happened re. Europe and the US before the invasion of Iraq? Was he not paying attention? Was he even old enough to read back then? Because the French and Germans were opposed enough that Rumsfeld referred to them as "Old Europe" before ignoring their objections.
VP lecturing "the Europeans" again:

"...if the Europeans had been a little more independent, and a little more willing to stand up, then maybe we could have saved the entire world from the strategic disaster that was the American-led invasion of Iraq."

Yes, pity Paris and Berlin were so pro-war...

I teach this distinction on the very first day of Spy Class!
Also, big tip of the hat to the spy museum for this. Drives me up the wall when people confuse the two!

The way to achieve peace is not for Ukraine to surrender land. The path to peace is to support a common EU defence plan with Ukraine, threaten the Kremlin with coordinated air strikes and ground forces, and back up European words with actions. NATO can do this. Americans can’t.

When I'm agreeing with the French, you know it's bad out there ...
French Senator Claude Malhuret:

"Washington has become Nero’s court, with an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers and a jester high on ketamine... We were at war with a dictator, we are now at war with a dictator backed by a traitor."

When you can't or won't answer an easy question, you're not a serious legislator.
The Atlantic asked every GOP member of Congress two straightforward questions: Did Russia invade Ukraine? And is Putin a dictator? A few said yes; one responded with an interaction with a chatbot; most didn’t respond at all. theatln.tc/C9Sz9dk4

Trump and Vance act as if the problem is that Ukraine is resisting an ongoing Russian invasion. The problem is the ongoing Russian invasion. If they want to use American power to stop the war, apply it to the aggressor. Abusing the victim is not going to end a war of aggression.

Since the 1950s, Summer Language Workshops at Indiana University have provided training in Russian, East European, and Central Asian languages. Generations have come to Bloomington to study Romanian, Polish, Kazakh, etc.

Rubio just cancelled all of them
