It's the sort of heavy sigh that used to be elicited when Uwe Boll acquired the rights for anything, the sheer thudding predictability of it. If the venerable animated character had been created for the film, there'd be some mystery and revelation about the backstory, but that's not happening here.

It's an odd view, not least because the five Craig movies stand as their own little continuity in any case. It's like "In MR. HOLMES (2015), Holmes is retired and Watson is long dead, therefore we cannot do a film with a younger Holmes and Watson EVER AGAIN."
