Excellent article today in UrbanToronto regarding the King Street priority corridor. After 7 years of transit priority, the street remains unchanged, with no timeline for when improvements are coming. This is low hanging fruit and the city is failing big time. urbantoronto.ca/news/2025/08...
King Street: Toronto's Transit Inferiority Corridor | UrbanToronto
Long planned upgrades to Toronto's busiest streetcar line have gone off the rails once more, with anticipated improvements to the 504 King's Transit Priority Corridor notably absent from the recently rebuilt intersection of King and Church streets, and indicative of a failure to truly prioritize the street for moving people.

It appears the contract given to OnXpress Transportation Partners to operate and maintain GO Transit Rail service was terminated yesterday. OnXpress was originally supposed to take over operations from Alstom in January, that was then delayed to October 2025. Now the contract has been terminated.
Today; January 1st, 2025: OnXpress Transportation Partners, the company selected to deliver GO Expansion, was supposed to take over operations and maintenance of the GO Transit Rail Network from Alstom Transport Canada.

This has been delayed 10 months to October 4th, 2025.

I love the Portlands redevelopment, but with no streetcar connection and thousands of new residents, it will absolutely become a major issue for the community. We need to start building the Waterfront East LRT as it'll also provide a east-west link along the waterfront!
Canada, Ontario and Toronto announced nearly $1 billion dollars to accelerate housing projects in Toronto's Port Lands, but we need to secure funding and accelerate construction of the Waterfront East LRT while building homes.
