Oh yeah, I have a new book out! A goofy horror comedy/ homage to campy horror movies, right on time for Halloween season! 🎃

When you’re tired from a busy weekend, but you don’t want to break your #writing streak, so you write a few words and your character too starts to feel how you feel.

Just finished reading @janefriedman.com ‘s The Business of Being a Writer (2nd Edition). One of the best non-craft books on #writing I’ve read!

Definitely recommend to anyone trying to expand their business or readership.

Chapter 3 is out!

Question of the day: Is it breaking and entering if you know the guy? 🤔

Decided to release my book as a web serial first before an ebook. Planning on posting a new chapter every Tuesday & Thursday between now & Halloween! 🎃

You can read it on my subreddit first!

Been making lots of changes to my #author website lately, the biggest of which is *finally* getting a proper homepage. It's no masterpiece, but it's better than what it used to be!

I am not a graphic designer, but I’ve always thought it’d be cool to create at least “passable” art for my free stories. Been playing around with Canva & it’s free assets on my phone.

It’s not good, but the best way to learn is to get comfortable 1st before trying to get good. One step at a time🚶‍♂️

This book was the motivation & guidance I needed to finally update my author bio on my website. From one tongue in cheek paragraph to something with actual detail & multiple paragraphs! 😮

Just started reading The Business of Being a Writer by @janefriedman.com, and I can already tell that this is going to be one of my favorite books on #writing. So many good pieces of advice that I’m having to hold back underlining every sentence 😆

Highly recommend to my fellow #authors out there.

#writers, what are we reading this week? Currently reading through In Ascension by Martin MacInnes over here. Love myself some moody atmospheric storytelling.

Honestly did not expect this to grow as much as it has. It was supposed to be a jokey sequel to a jokey piece of flash fiction I wrote years ago about a witch responding to review on Yelp. Over 3k words and still going!

I’ve read plenty of books on craft, but not enough on what to do after a final draft is completed. Making it my new goal for now to read more books on the business end of writing, starting with this one. Enjoying it so far!

Absolutely loving The Creative Act by Rick Rubin. So many good nuggets of inspiration & philosophy of creating. Definitely recommend to all creatives out there.

What books have you read so far in 2025 that have utterly captivated you? For me it’s The Gone World. I love books seeping in atmosphere and Sweterlitsch does a fantastic job with it.

What do you use for your note and do you have a certain template you use for note taking? I’ve been experimenting around with some. I created this template inspired by the Story Grid method, it’s a bit involved & I haven’t really had the chance to work with it yet. Using OneNote for note taking.

Thank you Kindle Unlimited reader(s) who’ve decided to check out my book. 🙏 Was nice waking up to this this morning.

Got a first page you’re proud of? Quote and share it!

Nothing like having your prologue be an internal disclaimer from an agency that investigates “story crimes” that go against “the will of the plot” that guides all stories.

Definitely one of the best books on writing I’ve read. It’s more of a productivity book (it is a spinoff of the successful productivity book The 12 Week Year after all) but geared towards writing. Great for writers who are also productivity nerds like me.

The fact that Annihilation, my favorite book of all time, has a 3.78 rating on GoodReads is proof that you don’t have to chase 4 or 5 star ratings. No matter what, you’ll probably end up writing somebody’s favorite book of all time that they’ll never shut up about 😄. #writingcommunity
