Big news -- Ann Scott's SUPERSTARS coming out in English next year
Honestly—pompously but truly—how I feel as a translator, especially since almost all the stuff I work on seems like it’s never going to get published. Just good that it exists somewhere else, even if that’s in the purgatory of my personal archive.
I asked my French publisher why they are so completist publishing all of an author's work, even novels less likely to sell. She said she sees part of her role as like monasteries in medieval times, to preserve knowledge through the dark ages. I was struck in the gut a bit by this, felt emotional.
