So I was looking at Mac Mini with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB drive. Which would give each OS 16GB of RAM which would be more than serviceable.
For the *same* price I can get a base Mac Mini and a Lenovo Qualcomm Snapdragon desktop
Apple definitely overcharges for RAM and drive space. Remember that! 2/2

In a reminder to always do your research. And for transparency, I am an avid Apple user. I was looking for an option for a networked Apple MacOS device that would also run a Windows VM so I can have some Windows on ARM research and potentially development work 1/2

So, due to a defective 12V battery I am driving a gas vehicle for a few weeks (normally I drive a 2023 VW ID.4).

I can tell you right now, as much as a 2025 VW Jetta is a nice car I do *not* miss gas cars in any way shape or form

35 years ago today a gunman walked into an engineering classroom at the École Polytechnique in Montreal, separated the women from the men and killed 14 of them. It was the ultimate manifestation of the gender-based bias and violence we still face in STEM today. We must never forget. 👩🏻‍🔬 🧪

I upgraded my home router to a well reviewed d-link. A few *months* later I received an email stating that they were no longer going to support that device with security rollouts.I immediately replaced the router with a tp-link device. But don’t sell devices you won’t support for x years!

Abortion access is under threat across Canada from Conservative governments.

The excellent @nicktsergas.bsky.social gave us a glimpse into what moving rural Alberta healthcare to the Catholic Covenant Health means for women in this province

So far the new features in iOS 18.1, the day to day improvements of Siri are the improvements I’ve encountered the most. More natural speaking voice, a better understanding of requests and voice to text for messaging on the go so far is much better. Looking forward to trying it all with CarPlay
