A worse solution is doubling down - playing to potential funders who see the world as you do > a new class of policymakers. Securing the job at the cost of proving criticism right.

Part of the solution is class diversity and media diversity, e.g.

- hiring comms/ researchers from outside "the scene"
- having a presence in contested media spaces: retreating to Bluesky alone, e.g., narrows audience significantly

e.g. populist right, who may be dismissive of think tanks as a whole, or see them as merely influence vehicles > research institutes (echoed in the US' Heritage Foundation #project2025)

At best, it introduces major communications challenges to institutions not used to playing beyond the choir.
