Onward Christian soldier. Thank you for a century of service.
Rest in peace to Submariner LT James Earl Carter Jr, USN (Ret). Carter, the only U.S. President to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy, leaves a legacy of service. The USS Jimmy Carter (SSN-23), a Seawolf-class fast-attack submarine, carries his name in honor of his dedication to our nation.

Why does Trump want to acquire the Panama Canal, Greenland and Canada?

It's almost impossible to grasp the magnitude of US wealth inequality & concentration:

$100K saved for retirement is a 4.3-inch stack of $100 bills.

$1M: 43 inches.

$1B: 3,600 feet. 12 football fields. World's tallest building is 2,722 feet.

Musk: $486B. 330 miles high. 60 Mt. Everests, stacked.

Hell of a return on investment for Elon’s $275 million in PAC donations.
This is Oligarchy.

Since Election Day, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos & Mark Zuckerberg have become $232 billion richer & are now worth $920 billion combined. Meanwhile, 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck.

We must fight for an economy that works for all, not just the few.

When I had a violent stalker who would graphically describe how he would have me gang raped, puncture my organs and and break all my bones, I was told the police "couldn't do anything".

Consider this a reminder that they absolutely ✨can✨ do something.

They just don't care about YOU.

Time for Congress to spice up the Army-Navy game by putting at least $100 billion in defense spending on the line.

We shouldn’t be shocked that Americans are angry enough at the health care system to cheer the murder of a CEO. We should be disappointed that the Democrats didn’t channel that anger toward more humane and productive purposes…like winning the 2024 election on a Medicare for All platform.

1. The conventional explanation for food deserts—that these places are too poor or too rural to generate enough spending on groceries, or too Black to overcome racist corporate redlining — fail to grapple with a key fact: food deserts didn’t used to exist. My new piece in The Atlantic.
The Mystery of Food Deserts
They didn’t materialize around the country for no reason. Something happened.

We should all be bumping up our @wikimedia.bsky.social donations this year now that they’ve confirmed the theoretical possibility that Albert Einstein ate at Burger King.

20% tariff on imports from Mexico? Nice! All my years of avocado hoarding are going to finally pay off.

Ripping open these Blue Sky starter packs like it’s the first day of Madden Mobile. Haven’t found the 99 rated TJ Watt but I have assembled a pretty awesome lineup of historians, philosophers and political theorists.

So it begins. Excited to join the Blue Sky community and looking forward to the day when I can open this app without hearing the Electric Light Orchestra in my head.
