Ooh the #parkypetition100K is in the nervous 90s. Can we hit 93000 by 8:20am?

This is an image of British Commandos on a approaching Sword Beach on D-Day, 6th June 1944.
War is a horrific thing; these men left their loved ones to enter its hellish cauldron. Some never returned. We remember their immense bravery and sacrifices so that they should never be necessary again.

Do you…

…have some @nationalbooktokens.bsky.social ?

You can ONLY spend them on books, you know.

Fortunately, we accept them on our website. Just go to the cart and put the details in.

Everyone’s a winner.

Time for a bit of reality - a thread.

Sales in the shop are doing well, but we're reliant on sales on the website to help pay the bills.

The website is reliant on social media, particularly twitter.

Since September, we've seen a big decline in people seeing our tweets.

So true! 🤣
One minute you’re young and wild, the next you’re declining an invitation to sit on a beanbag because “I won’t be able to get up again!”

Struggling to get into a book, which is not like me! I've started 3 so far - Held - don't like the writing style, Butter - text is too small, and The Betrayal of Thomas True and it's not gripping me! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I can't face going out on the cold today and scraping my car - again! So it's a cosy day in with a throw, cups of tea and my current read Held by Anne Michaels. 🫖☕️📚 Husband is building Lego and watching football ⚽️ 😄

Just finished 'What you are looking for is in the library' by Michiko Aoyama and loved it. A really warm story set in Japan and beautifully written. Would recommend 👌

You're going to go through life reading books that you didn't like. That doesn't mean it's a bad book, it just means it wasn't for you.
