Gamers piss me off bc it's either they want yellow paint or they don't want yellow paint and when they DO have yellow paint they complain about how much hand holding the devs did and when they DONT have yellow paint they complain abt how the devs designed things poorly

Remember, if you've ever wondered why PS1 games feel like they have odd control schemes, it's because the PS1 originally did not launch with joysticks on the controller. They came later. So even though many later games could use joysticks, all games needed to be made thinking they weren't there.

you should be as morally outraged by an atrocity in New Mexico as an atrocity in Xinjiang, but you should also recognize that you have far more power and ability to speak out about atrocities than a Chinese citizen does, and not embrace self-indulgent fantasies of equal repression.

*sigh* it is not in fact a controversial idea that Americans enjoy substantially more rights than Chinese citizens, and you have to be incredibly ignorant of basic facts about China to believe otherwise.

"to democratize art is not every person having a cute drawing made in seconds, to democratize art is every person having time and health to learn and make art if they chose to, and mainly to have the means to think and relate introspectively with art."

Have you ever been told: “to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps”?

This illogical saying stems from a fantastical folk hero and actually refers to an impossible task.

An Impossible Idiom: Pulling Yourself Up by the Bootstraps
Have you ever had the misfortune of being told by a potentially well intentioned, but certainly misguided, individual that: “you need to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps”? Often this sentime…

I keep seeing people moaning that romance fantasy is ruing the genre and making it unreadable.

1st: they come of as man-babies afraid of cooties.

2nd: looking at best selling fantasy books the last year on SFbok, Brandon Sanderson seems like a far bigger culprit of homogenising the genre.

100% true. My life got infinitely better as an artist once people started leaving more comments. It's SO encouraging, you all LITERALLY kept me going.

Like > Share > Comment. Even if it's just a heart emoji, a heart eye emoji, or one word replies.

It. Means. So. Friggin. Much!
replies felt weirdly discouraged on twitter (at least to me) but I really recommend getting back into the habit of telling artists directly when you like their stuff. not even in an engagement farming way, it just feels nice. nobody's day is going to be worse hearing that you like their work
