What an absurd notion. My books always need new friends - I like to think of them comparing how long they've been here at night when I'm doomscrolling.

I only read the first, but feel, quarter of a century later, I should commit to the rest. The loyalty those books inspire is impressive - and he’s sort of forgotten now, even with the help of Russell Crowe.

M&C! Such a delight. Used to work in a 1st Ed bookshop and Patrick O’B collectors were also such a delight.

I used to wonder about this when I was young, seeing older women going out of the house with all their chin hairs - how could they? Now I know they literally couldn’t see them.

It is very good. I think about the ending of that book a lot, and can vividly remember where I was when I had my “ooooohhhhhh!” moment.
