Seeing women's spaces as 'safe' without men positions men's spaces as 'dangerous' without women. This assigns women the role as harbingers of peace and unity without which society would crumble, affirming female superiority narratives that benefit nobody.

Perceiving men as a threat diminishes all of our autonomy over violent and sexual urges by arguing that physical barriers are the only way to stop rape and assault. This is putting both sexes in metaphorical cages, either for their own protection or to protect others.
