I talk about Utah politics, disability justice, LGBTQ+ issues, American politics, and international politics. Americans are global citizens and should act like it.

Utahns: always remember that both parties hate us. Democrats think we're a lost cause and Republicans think we're a sure thing. That's why both parties ignore us, and why national organizations do too.

It's time for local movements, *by* Utahns *for* Utahns.
I know this is about more than my hurt feelings, but my feelings are hurt. So I'm gonna take one post to be a cunt.

No Kings protest: *results in SLC's 50501 chapter forcibly being shut down*

No Kings 2 protest: *is failing to draw big numbers*

I'm so glad Salt Lake County's ability to hold mass protests is now severely damaged. Right when we've got a budget bill that's going to kill people, another forever war we're edging into entering, and more of our neighbors who are going to be terrorized.

So. Glad. 🙄

Trying to explain the No Kings protest shooting in Utah to someone in Canada in less than 200 words is, imo, impossible.

"It's our fucking gun laws" doesn't really do it.

Sounds good to me!

No, seriously. I'm the praying type.

Hey, folks in Salt Lake City and adjoining cities. @americanopposition.org is organizing this, not 50501, so we will be allowed to participate!

I remember when John McCain humming "bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran" hurt his presidential campaign.
Trump posted a “Bomb Iran” music video with these lyrics:

“Went to a mosque. Gonna throw some rocks.”

“Time to turn Iran into a parking lot.”

📢Parade of Preventable Diseases is tomorrow at 4pm outside CDC roybal main entrance!

While the new ACIP is undermining vaccine confidence, we will be outside reminding them what vaccines are for.

Remember when people were saying: “the courts are the last line of defense!”

There was never a long-term line of defense. With the Supreme Court compromised, and we know that it is, major decisions like this will continue to happen.

If you aren’t preparing for a general strike, start now.
The “Third Country Removal Case” means thousands of people will be deported to extremely dangerous countries they’re not from with no due process.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox has issued an executive order directing that the referendum aimed at overturning HB267 — the controversial law that would to strip public unions of their ability to collectively bargain — be placed on the 2026 general election ballot. #utpol

all i want is to one day own a modest sized home in a walkable neighborhood and raise money for shelter animals. wear an outfit i like, walk to the grocery store, buy some nectarines, feed cats, and live in peace. just don't understand why achieving this is so hard

My least favorite kink is being lectured by people from blue states/states with stricter gun laws about guns in Utah and how Utahns have to interact with our gun laws.

I'm glad you don't live in a place where you can get fucking shot at, Becky, but not all of us are that privileged.

Folks from the other #Fiftyfiftyone chapters: the dissolution of the SLC chapter is a Utah issue & ONLY a Utah issue. If you don't live here, it doesn't affect you and isn't something you have the knowledge to comment on.

Please butt out of our business & pain and stop talking down to us. 🖕

We live in a rogue and dangerous country.

Do what you need to do to maintain your internal peace. Hold the core of your spirit. Pray for peace. Commit yourself to justice. And just rest.

The stipulation's of #ArturoGamboa 's release are bullshit, but I'm glad he's been released. He should've been released Thursday, but at least he's out now.

I'm so sad and so furious that this happened to him. Utah, please don't make him an unwelcome figure at protests-if he wants to protest again.

Thanks for abandoning SLC right before Trump dragged us into a war, @50501movement.bsky.social. Our protest scene here *totally* needed to have a wrecking ball slammed through it right before we needed to be the most organized we've ever been.

Fuck you so hard. Fuck you forever.

We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.

If you think it can’t happen here, remember that it already did. In 1942 soldiers came with rifles to our home and ordered us out. They put us in internment camps. Most of us were citizens.
