The gauge idea is nice, I am thinking a manager that has info about the plants already in it to help manage or give tips about the type of plant it is.

I have done a few experiments with yaml config using ChatGPT. I have been looking at AppDaemon hoping I can think of all the automations as one big program that runs my house and not a bunch of small events.

Cool I will take a second look. The background location updates on iOS are unreliable for automations that might help. Thanks.

Ugh I remember when I was at that point with my Mom in 2011. Driving back and forth an hr to hospice, The Wiskey Media family of podcasts got me through a lot of those drives. Always wanted to mail and kind of thank you all but never got the chance.

I have it installed but do need to take a closer look at it. How are you using it?

Works good so far, just need to find a good use for it. So far I just have it remind me if i left the AC on in the summer. Any suggestions?

A work around I use is to expose my away mode sensor to HomeKit then I created an automation that flips the status once the last person leaves the house.

True but I have more statuses than sun up or sun down. I have a status for after my kids should be in bed and one for when everyone is asleep. The sun down and sun up event set num night mode and morning modes.

I moved over to Proxmox this year. I am running it on an old dell mini desktop and it’s definitely worth it. I run HAOS and have a few other services running in LXCs. Jellyfin, Adguard + unbound, zigbee2mqtt and a few testing projects. Easy backups and separation of services. It’s nice.
