I am running a HUGE trade deficit with the grocery store. Every month I buy a ton of stuff from them and they buy _nothing_from me.

I’ma levy a 25% tariff on the grocery store. When my family buys $100 worth of stuff from the grocery store, my family must pay me $25.

Kevin Klinkenberg is on a podcast production roll. Now that I no longer commute an hour each way a couple times a week, am getting behind.

Building a small developer ecosystem is important work.

Spend part of your holiday fighting to hold on to the freedom we normally celebrate on the 4th. This year we are under serious threat. No time to celebrate. We are under serious attack by our own federal government! We've got work to do!

There are no end game metrics to the ICE detention program. No rules, no standard of engagement, no clear goals. It's reactive, uncalibrated, open-ended, shapeless, unaccountable, sloppy, and blindly quantitative.

The proposed budget is larger than the FBI, DEA, ATF, and IRS/Treasury combined.

A colleague brought this blog post to my attention. Written 9 years ago. I can’t say I have made much progress on this since then, sure a couple of decent projects, but the challenge is intimidating in scale.

The Tulsa Race Massacre was not committed by an uncontrolled mob but was the result of “a coordinated, military-style attack” by white citizens, the Justice Department said in a report. It was the first time the U.S. government has given an official account of the 1921 massacre of Black residents.
Tulsa Massacre Was a ‘Coordinated, Military-Style Attack,’ Federal Report Says
The Justice Department’s conclusion follows an investigation of the 1921 atrocity in Oklahoma in which up to 300 Black residents were killed.

In the run up to the election democrats reported on the objective facts on the performance of the US economy. Trump lied claiming the economy was terrible. When the top 1% get most of the wealth generated in a good economy it still looks incredibly bad to the people getting squeezed out .

We took advantage of turkeys being on sale at Kroger, Walmart, and Publix to fill 2/3 of our chest freezer. I figure protein will not be cheaper than $0.49 a pound between now and the beginning of the incoming administration.

We are remembering the rice and beans recipes we used from 2008-2012

I am this app for less than a day and the first person I have to block is Elon Musk. For some reason he reposted what I wrote about how pathetic it is Trump wants generals who are loyal to him personally.

The best streets in the world tend to have an enclosure proportion of 1:1 or a bit taller. Too tall, the street is dark; too low, it doesn't feel like an outdoor room. US Main Streets struggle to achieve a 1:3 proportion; at less than 1:6 all sense of enclosure is lost.

Every member of the US armed forces takes an oath to protect and defend our constitution. Presidents take a similar oath. The notion that Trump wants generals who are loyal to him personally sounds like the night of the long rubber knives.
