the national party has no idea what organizing *actually* is.

It sounds insane but really 90% of the bad things in CA are due to prop 13.

Interesting. 20 years ago when I started out the focus was on intersections and left turning cars at least where I took the classes.

I agree, except I do not think the fact that motorcycles go faster than bicycles is a major factor in safety. I get its intuitive but I am deeply skeptical. I think the data show the risks are external to the rider. My experience does. I’d be curious to see stats controlling for miles traveled.

The first hour I set foot in Berkeley I saw a Harley rider lock up his front brakes on Shattuck and low side into a curb. He got hurt. 100% user error at 25mph. So yeah :).

The vast majority, over 90%, of fatal motorcycle crashes occur on non-interstate roads. Car drivers kill motorcyclists just like they kill bicyclists.

Actually reading the docs is going to become more of a superpower

I love that you have summoned a bunch of people on the internet who are excited to talk about Piqua.

Blaming Biden for Trump and his supporters actions is like a parent blaming their kids teacher because their kid lit the classroom on fire.

Actually, the people who are lying and breaking the law are the ones responsible for their actions. These takes are just simple nonsense dressed up to seem profound.

This article simply quotes a NWS employee. It makes no effort to independently verify any facts. The official does not even make the claim in your tweet. How is reporting different from a press release?

I git the same nonsense asking for a 4th sign at Soruce and Rose after another cyclist got hit. They sent the wrong data. Even when they sent the “right” data, the data were incomplete. A couple years later some connected folks got the sign installed. It was a transparent, BS brush off.

Troy! Great to hear there’s a good book store. Grew up in the cornfields to the north near where you live now. Amazing to see my childhood home in your posts. I appreciate how you appreciate it

What?!?! Buying one tonight! I never looked there because I am awash in beans. Thank you!

I think the Bean Club needs shirts. I have a “regular” RG shirt but as a Person of the Bean I feel like my clothing should reflect my status.

This needs to stop, and it seems like relying on people to drive more carefully isn't going to cut it. Let me know if you are a #Berkeley parent and/or interested in helping to organize for some street safety improvements and enforcement.

They are very committed to a certain narrative when it comes to debates around change in Berkeley. Those who oppose it must always be motivated by aesthetics or romantic notions of some kind. Never selfishness.

The more I read this article the more I suspect she totally made it up. The reporter asked her for supporting evidence. But she had none, so she resorted to ChatGPT. The article says the source was provided after the interview. I doubt she had *any* source for the claim at the time of the interview

The problem with bay are progressive politics is the progressive position on any issue is defined by consensus. Not factual analysis.

I’m really curious about the technical sailing discussion, and the sound effects. Sailing was quite a lot more popular then. Amazing to see such a snippet in The Whole Earth Catalogue
