Alright. I probably broke a record for the longest piece published at @navalnews.com. Anyway, here's my rather comprehensive overview on all the naval weaponry and equipment we could observe at the Chinese military parade 2025. Enjoy!

A rarity nowadays...

US Navy E-6B Mercury 164408 using its assigned hex code of #AE041A as SCORE70 is up for a flight from Tinker AFB, OK. Since the fleet began using tactical hex codes earlier this year, seeing them use their usual hex code has become increasingly rare.

This gives me an excuse to share my favorite archival find related to the 2nd Amendment. In 1954 the Commander of the Navy Reserve Army in Salem, OR awarded medals to a group of junior riflemen. He asked the assembled crowd if they knew what the 2nd Amendment was. Crickets. No one had heard of it.

My grandfather did this as a US Navy meteorologist in the "Hurricane Hunters" in the 1950s and that made him officially a badass in my eyes.
Unbelievable footage from NOAA’s Hurricane Hunters inside the eye of Hurricane Erin.

Simply incredible.
