Sorry this is so vague but if you're an academic asked to do consulting work for a major corporation, how do you go about picking a fee? Any pointers would be appreciated #academicsky

We know what happened to the last PM who insisted on red lines... Starmer needs to grow some cojones or he'll be retiring much sooner than he anticipated & he needs to get off his high horse and start listening to ppl other than daily fail readers!
Oh come on Labour - so depressing to hear Pat McFadden say UK has no plans for a youth mobility scheme with the EU. We have schemes with NZ, Australia, Canada, Japan, Iceland, Uruguay & more - only reason not to have one with EU is fear of right wing press. Such cowardice @bbclaurak.bsky.social

Since there's quite a lot of talk about small boat crossings today ("20,000 people since the election!") a bit of context might be helpful...
First, while the cumulative numbers this year (red line 👇) ARE high, they're not as high as in 2022.
So this is not unprecedented.

You know what these two rich men have in common besides being named to positions by Trump within a day of each other? They are the father-in-laws to his two daughters, Ivanka and Tiffany.

Such brazen, mob boss nepotism.

look I dunno if you hate being on X because all the interactions are awful I think it’s fine to not be there; I don’t think we all need to volunteer to get ripped apart by lions because it’s the only way the coliseum audience can be reached

The chastising about how Dems need to remain on Twitter would be more meaningful if the GOP hadn’t won the popular vote for the first time in 20 years after fleeing to Truth Social, Gab, and Parler.

This feels like an excuse to try and have it both ways. I have people cloning my accounts and stealing my content on every platform. Those that follow me know me. If you see content with my name and face on X it isn't me. Problem solved. Again, this just feels like an excuse.
KEY POINT: Don’t allow your user name on X (Twitter) to become a future bot account.

The election machines could have been hacked to flip votes when voting was busiest and no one could check them.

Start flipping votes at 11am and go back to normal at 4pm could make a significant difference.

This is why we need paper ballot back-ups. They have to match the machine to validate.

Plus, most states have a post election audit system in place. The election is now in the verification phase. This is when the paper ballot — the official record of the voters’ choices — must be reviewed to compare to the computer-generated results, or to identify anomalies or miscounts.
