Aren’t these guys creepy? I read that jack-o-lantern carving started with turnips, not pumpkins, so we decided to try it. Turnips are much more firm on the inside than pumpkins. I had to use a hole saw bit to hollow them out.

Out shopping today, and came across this mermaid Halloween costume for your pet …. (wait for it)… Gecko!! Show of hands; who takes their gecko trick-or-treating?

I live on what used to be the 5th hole, but they closed the course. What used to be the water hazard is a now pond that attracts migrating waterfowl (they actually used to shoot them, apparently, when the course was operating; we moved in after the course was closed).

OK, one more photo from our vacation. This unusual rainbow appeared as a fragment, like a column. The sun was setting, so it was very low in the sky, which apparently affects the size of the arc. The photo was taken facing north-northeast.

During a recent vacation in Hawaii, we saw these Green See Turtles coming to shore at sunset on Poipu Beach. According to a docent, it’s one of the two known places in the world that they do this enmasse. (What do you call a group of sea turtles?)
