I agree. We’ve been poor but there must have been a dozen contentious calls in the game - big and small - and every single one has gone their way. It doesn’t half make it hard.

No, it absolutely isn't!!! That is a wilful misinterpretation of the original QT, which served to show how a promise to be 'light-touch' is never in good faith and invariably morphs into something more draconian.
And "we have surveillance therefore you must accept more" is plainly a bad argument.

It's not just about that though. I believe he was illustrating the way the direction of travel is always towards more surveillance, more control, less privacy - and that it's always obvious that this is the plan, even when it's denied at the beginning.

That's a leap! Objection to dystopian government surveillance schemes is not at all the same as wanting the freedom to commit crimes. I would never want to wear a government-controlled GPS bracelet - that doesn't mean I believe I should be allowed to shoplift or commit murder.

I've not seen it yet, but that's a wonderful sentence in the OP - wow!

Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest.
The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.
"I could smell the onions and mustard."

Whilst I don't agree with her entirely, I agree that it would be hugely unjust to raise the basic rate without doing anything about property taxes and taxes on unearned wealth. Especially given that, the richer you are, the less of your income is from wages.
