Same thing can happen with Bond. That we saw him get killed in No Time to Die is only tricky if you don't believe in great storytelling.

The true test of Bond isn't resurrecting him bodily. It's resurrecting him with purpose and meaning in a world that has evolved past his Cold War origins. Who is Bond now? Why is Bond necessary now?
Sherlock Holmes was killed off and brought back, more successful than ever.

IOI Interactive is releasing the first Bond game in years (First Light) in 2026, with a young Bond in our modern world, getting his footing and becoming a master spy in our era. As a long-time Bond fan I'm eager to see how they develop this. Will he erode, too? How will he be relevant?

Bond novels jump around in time and era. Horowitz's "Forever and a Day" has a very young Bond requesting the 007 number as a way of honoring the previous spy who had it. Arguably this is just after "Casino Royale."

Previous films didn't have much of a historical membrane. FFS, Bond's ally in You Only Live Twice shows up as Blofeld in another film. They were escapist fantasy. The rules were more lax.

- The Craig films knew this, even foreshadowing it in Casino Royale (the good one): "Well, I understand 00's have a very short life expectancy, so your mistake will be short-lived."
The Craig films were the only one with a sustained arc. Like the Fleming films, they said something.

That would be an excellent angle.
I'm looking at when memory is used against you. And when it someone's memory not a memory, but a fancy gif file? How is it flattened? Does it come with the same emotional crescendos?

Loved the slow horror of the first episode. Really curious about the long game on this.
