Super essay by @espiers.bsky.social. Good people, as almost all are, want that in their representatives—thought, care, humility, talent. Many candidates are that. When one, such as Andrew Cuomo, palpably isn’t and is running against someone who distinctly is, it’s election over.
Politicians like Cuomo are a relic of the past. (Did I want to title this one “Don’t Let The Door Hit You On The Way Out”? Yes, I did.) www.nytimes.com/2025/11/07/o...

‘The percolating instrumentation of “New York”, Ja Rule’s piercing 2004 posse cut, was playing on my TV, and Mamdani strolled out to deliver a rousing victory speech:

“New York City, breathe this moment in. We have held our breath for longer than we know.”’

Admiration to Chief Justice Roberts and to Justice Kagan for not attending political organization, such as Federalist Society, events.
If you ever hear anyone say that FedSoc is simply a nonpartisan debating club that takes no position on hotly contested issues of legal or public policy, show them this:

Supreme Court justices should not be encouraging people to have particular political identities and positions.

Eric Segall is right -- the Supreme Court should be, in the tariff case & in general, reading & following Justice Robert H. Jackson's wisdom, incl'g in Korematsu (dissenting from constitutional blessing for executive/military excess) & in Steel Seizure case (concurring that Pres. power is limited).

Here’s President Trump, constitutionally clueless/assuming that he is a monarch.

What Trump needs to learn: The President of the U.S. executes federal appropriations laws. He does not “contribute” federal funds to cities or to anyone else.

(I.e., we don’t have a king.)
The kiss of death…for Andrew Cuomo.

Here’s AG Bondi legal nonsense/an excellent example of “no limiting principle”—
Attorney General Pam Bondi says she has retroactively appointed former Trump attorney Lindsey Halligan as a "special attorney" for DOJ and has "ratified" all of her actions to date, including her presentations to the grand juries that indicted Trump's foes.

Andrew Cuomo is a racist, or at least playing one.

A decent person—say, his Dad—would have disagreed with this sewage from Maria Bartiromo and redirected the interview to affection and hopes for all New Yorkers.
So here's Andrew Cuomo reacting to Maria Bartiromo wondering if Mamdani will "change the look of New York" and have Muslim women "completely covered up," telling her that Mamdani "doesn't understand New York culture" because he has "dual citizenship" and "he's a citizen of Uganda."
