I recall when my alma mater served as a bastion for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Unfortunately, Iowa has since shifted its direction and abandoned its commitment to being welcoming and kind to neighbors and newcomers, yielding the current result.

#dei Who would have ever thought that an immigrant kid with dysgraphia would get a PhD. I guess that teacher was half wrong, when he said I was a dumb Mexican (I am Guatemalan) and would wind up working in a meat plant. I did work in a meat packing plant to put my self through college after all.
