As a Pākeha professional in the 90's I was angered but not directly affected by the great re-ordering. Now I have Polynesian grandkids and am raising a Māori great grandkid with a disability.
I'm not atypical. Racism may appeal to focus groups but not on the ground.

Pity that at home, our charismatic leader is increasingly incapable of making 'critical connections' with anyone except NZ Herald staffers.

Teachers can collectively subvert this.
Our teacher history is full of ppl who have quietly done this.

Very disappointed but not surprised at the result in Taupō. The relationship between Council and Tūwharetoa was used to create fear and division by those on the right.

Our early childhood sector is in free fall. Best Start aka the Wright Fdtn has been central in this. Through alliances with Govt Ministers, targeting of poor communities, dodgy ratios + employment practices, they've forced out ethical centres and driven down quality.
