Research management pays the bills. Science Fiction, music, cooking, and gardening make life worth living. There might be occasional photos of a certain tiny ginger feline terrorist.

Need to catch up on boasting (politely) about my baking. Cupcakes for a family event tomorrow; the malteaser cake for a friend's birthday a week ago. Just as well I'm already diabetic.

Third time I've tried to make ciabatta. First one was flat and dense (tasted great though). Second one, the dough went in the bin before baking. But I have a good feeling about these.

Victoria Sponge (Mary Berry's recipe). I added the cream and strawberries, because, well, why wouldn't you?

Hey I didn't know it was #worldbookday (UK & Ireland). Here's a photo of my favourite books: anything that's ever won a Hugo or Nebula for best novel. Still some gaps, but I'm getting there.

Successful post-Christmas shopping trip. If you're in Brisbane, Aus, Pulp Fiction is the best indie bookshop for SF & fantasy (and crime). Can't wait to get into these

Hey I found my box that you guys hid in the music room!

It's going to be a long Christmas
December 1, 2024 at 10:44 AM
It's a bit early, but what do you think we're getting for Christmas?
December 1, 2024 at 3:47 AM
OK, I'll bite: What's a book—or series of books—that you loved as a kid that almost nobody seems to read or even remember nowadays?

Cats and books hey? We are forever shouting "Falcon! Get out of the books!" Fortunately the valuable ones are behind glass

Turns out I've got Covid. Worst possible time given how busy we are at work. Anyway, there's one member of the family who doesn't seem to care #caturday

Well looks like someone has finally developed a taste for cricket

So unexpectedly this little fella has come to live with us. Meet Falcon (yeah, stupid name). Also, going to need to buy more books by authors with names starting with "E"

I baked a cake! (I know, small steps)
