Two presidents and a prime minister were present at the ceremony so in my dreams I was sort of hoping that Infantino might fluff his lines, in true Oscar wrong envelope manner, and declare Claudia Sheinbaum the winner

In all fairness to FIFA they’ve been setting world standards in the beyond parody lark for decades

I think that the someone referred to in your post was on the stage at the time of the award giving ceremony.

I think he was practising his acceptance speech for when he awards the next one to himself.

I know it’s a long time ago but I suspect that ABBA made a few dollars off the back of it too.

In fairness, and assuming that we are thinking of the same book, it’s well worth reading & he covered an awful lot more than governments passing laws without providing the necessary means to enforce them to create the illusion of real action

If you were my MP I would write to you.
As it is I have sent a link to your post to my MP (Navendu Mishra) so with a bit of luck there might be at least two of you who want action.
That leaves 400 or so to convince.
With a bit of luck others will be writing to their MP’s too.
🤞

I haven’t read the analysis but my guess would be that the party members who were knocking on doors in the 2-3 years leading up to the general election had and have a much better understanding of what voters wanted and why Labour won than those who think they ran a “laser focused” campaign.

The self selecting group they are ‘recruiting’ are, generally speaking, the very worst of a really poor bunch.

Haven’t read the whole thread so might not be the first to suggest these, which definitely will not go to waste

John Prescott tweeted in response: "Glasman. You know sod all about politics, economic policy, Labour or solidarity. Bugger off and go ‘organise’ some communities." Glasman says that after this altercation he did not speak to any media for the following three years

I’m quite enjoying the 180 turn on a six pence from “you’ve wrecked the economy and created a black hole” to “there was no black hole and this is even worse”.

Do you know who took part in the survey?
I’m wondering what percentage of the population have cash ISAs to have strong feelings either way.

Not so sure that the ermine changed anything for Lord Mandelson, Eivind.
I admire the originality of your thinking though, the notion that somewhere along the line Lord Mandelson lost some principles is a definitely a suggestion I for one have never seen before.

The hangover cure room.
A bacon butty on fried bread breakfast in there will get you over the worst quickly, but it won’t be pretty.

In fairness it’s done it for me. I’m possibly the only one left in the country who doesn’t have a copy.

What I want to know is whether the OBR leaker ever work for Samir Shah, Sir Robbie Gibb, or indeed the BBC?

V. scary & it looks all the more worrying along reports that Judge Chamberlain, due to hear the ‘Palestine Action’ case, has been ‘mysteriously’ pulled from the hearing to be replaced by a panel of three.
Is this an entirely normal move in say a case of public importance or should we all be worried

One of his many interviewers should ask him to demonstrate the genuine nature & sincerity of his current explanation by repeating some of his reported comments, verbatim, in what he seems to recall as his non hurtful, complimentary manner.
That should sort it out.
