Definitely an opinion there. Gotta remember, the US is an outlier compared to many other countries that actually have good protections and laws in place. That onion title isn’t for nothing.

Completely different things, though. Ranges can be a secure place and are examples of how people *should* be using guns responsibly. USA is just too far down the rabbit hole to make changes on gun laws now.

I mean, we use knives to kill people too. Archery, similarly, is a sport for both hunting/fighting and recreation. Better that people embrace it as a sport. It’s when they think it’s cool to threaten people that I take issue with it

What’s wrong with it?

Please do share if you can for others. Great opportunity for this!

And that means that the students that I serve are going to be abandoned by yet another person. The hiring process at other public schools is equally as messed up as it is here. There is this wrenching feeling of being trapped where I am, and it’s only making things worse. All in all, this sucks.

Teachers are burning out at a startling pace, and fewer people are choosing to go into this profession. I’m never more than one small inconvenience away from snapping and quitting, and I hate being like that. I could quit, yes, but there aren’t people coming to fill the vacancy.

Administrations are overly hostile towards educators; public sentiment towards funding public education is at rock bottom; in the general political is now permanently fixated on demonizing teachers for doing the exact same thing they’ve been doing for decades. The situation is untenable.

I spent this past weekend literally sick to my stomach with the sense of dread and anxiety about coming back to work after the winter break. My students are in really good shape, they know how to act in my room, and I know what I’m doing. The general atmosphere in public education is the problem.

Now that this frenzied, nonstop, adrenaline rush has ended, though, we’re finally getting a chance to take a good look at the current state of education in the public schools. It’s bad. It’s whatever is the worst possible scenario on that spectrum, and so many of us absolutely cannot stand it.

The high stress frenzy and adrenaline rush has finally cut back, though as kids slowly get back into the routine of being in school. There’s still so many issues that we face on a day-to-day basis, but at the very least there isn’t, or a huge brawl, or some other crazy incident going on.
