It's more subtle but the way the press and TV indulge and excuse Boris Johnson's conduct is very similar to what happens to Donald Trump in the US.

None of the World Cup matches should be played in the US. The flights are getting as bad as Pakistan Air and they got banned. The players will not be safe. The fans will face arrest from ICE or refusal at an airport because they have a joke about Dear Leader on their phone.
