On Each of You (track 2 of my EP, For Reflection) the intro has a couple of things that make me happy: 1. an awesome snare drum sound. 2. A 4/4 over 6/8 kind of tension. 3. The guitar riff I’m playing is from a solo I discarded because Shane Tracy’s guitar solo was so much better. On all services.

In the midst of all the chaos, I wanted to offer us all a musical respite. I’m releasing a 3-song EP of scripture passages that have been meaningful to me over the years, even as my faith has evolved.

When you realize the fact that American citizens are being pulled from their homes and taken into custody and being held with no legal grounds, and you realize that there is no difference between them and yourself, then you realize that it’s only everything that we have to lose.

The founders set up a Constitution that described the freedoms and the rights that we would have as a nation. Sometimes, when we see that those freedoms and rights are being infringed upon, we need to speak out so that we don't repeat the ugly parts of history.

Quick video talking about the drum intro to Everything We Have to Lose. I modeled the drum intro after what John “JR” Robinson played to open up Michael Jackson’s Rock With You.

Look up John C Pollard and give it a listen.

What did a Reagan era policy have to do with how we experience the news today? If you look up the “Fairness Doctrine” you’ll learn a few interesting things. What the doctrine did was that ensure news organizations would present both sides when covering thorny issues.

While I was trying to channel my inner @stewart_copeland on the drums for my latest single, Tariffs, I also subtly worked in some Afro-Cuban 6/8 licks under the bridge.

Have you listened yet? It’s like School House Rock meets The Police’s Walking on the Moon. Links in bio.

My latest song Tariffs is now out on all the streaming platforms. I wanted it to explain what they are, how they work, who they hurt the most, and how that revenue might be used. It’s like School House Rock meets The Police’s Walking on the Moon. Links in bio.

When I decided on a reggae groove for Tariffs, I went back to all the old Police recordings and soaked in them for a bit. I wanted to catch the spirit of how @stewart_copeland played and replicate some of that energy. I feel pretty good with how that turned out!

Interesting fact about Tariffs is that the government can do whatever they want with that revenue. It doesn’t need to go through traditional legislative process. So, a large chunk of revenue is coming in with no accountability about where that is used. Seems bad. Besides that, we pay more.

During the election it became clear that most Americans didn’t understand how tariffs work, so I wrote a song about it. You can presave Tariffs now on Apple, iTunes, and Spotify. It drops next week, Aug 25, 2025.

It’s as if School House Rock met the Police’s Walking On The Moon.

I was walking my dog when the idea for Tariffs hit me. It’s a mix of School House Rock meets the Police’s Walking on the Moon. I think you’ll dig it. Coming out August 25, 2025. You can pre save now on Apple and Spotify.

Yes, I know said “literally” like 37 times.

I played the bass solo from this song for my wife. Dumbfounded, she asked, “Now who is going to listen to this?” If you like punk inspired, Zappa-flavored rock, this may be for you. Or if you like absurd bass solos. Also f*ck the big ugly bill.

Billionaires renting out Italian cities for their weddings, other billionaires pushing US legislators to pass enormous tax cuts for the wealthy while increasing our debt. Sounds like the perfect context to drop this punk-inspired song about trickle-down economics. Spoiler: It only trickles up.

I’m thrilled to report that It Only Trickles Up is now available on all streaming services. This song is for everyone who is not a billionaire and wants to see billionaires pay their fair share for the good of our society. kens @blasthouse

Yes, I have benefited from capitalism. That said, I’m not sure all of how I benefited is good. And I’m rethinking how I direct my money — even at this stage of my life. We need regulations to make sure that greed doesn’t take advantage of and exploit people, which it clearly has over the centuries.

Comfortable suburban white people (like me): When we truly learn and unlearn (which many of us need to do), that’s when we actually gain #understanding and #empathy for those who have not had the same experiences in the USA as we have.

Stand up. Speak out. Care for your fellow humans.

All of them
