Dear Netatmo, This explains why you can’t show me a weather forecast in your app, but it doesn’t explain why you thought it was a good idea to require your servers to be up in order to show me the status of my devices on my home network.

On a recent camping trip in Togwotee Pass, Wyoming I saw these things in some of the trees. Does anyone know what they are?

The only one of these I am fairly sure isn’t AI is the Cunk one. The others are either definitely completely AI generated, or heavily AI manipulated. A couple might be from content farms, which is hardly any better.

Have you ever wanted to buy a bottle of wine solely on the basis of the label?
A bottle of Gardacho Garnacha wine (also known as Grenache). The label features a black silhouette of a four-legged creature (possibly a deer, dog, or mythical beast) on a plain white background. An analysis of my Bluesky posts showing how many of my recent posts with images have alt text. Of 203 posts, 10 contained images and all those had alt text for a score of 100%. In the image there is a semicircular pie chart with equal-sized segments in red, orange, yellow and green. A needle indicating which band my score falls in is pinned to the top of the green segment.

Emergency exit door instructions:

1. Remove the cover.

2. Operate the lever.

3. Get sucked out of the aircraft, seat and all.

(Yes, this is on an Airbus. Steps 1 and 2 are not necessary on modern Boeing aircraft as step 3 happens automatically).

What’s the bet that this administration will ban thimerosal from vaccines on the one hand, and wind back regulations limiting methylmercury exposure from fish on the other?

I’ve added halibut to my list of acceptable fish for fish and chips, joining gummy shark (and gummy shark-adjacent), and something I once had in Hawaii (possibly mahi mahi, but I can’t be certain). Sorry, cod does not make the cut. And salmon? Why would you even do that?
