From the indictment:

Ortiz got $5K for one pitch in June, and Clase got $5K as the go-between, and when Clase set up a 90,000 pesos transfer to Ortiz in the Dominican Republic, he told Ortiz, "They're going to ask him what is that payment for over there. Tell him that this is payment for a horse."

We’re probably a couple of years away from a “Tuvix Pleads for His Life” Hallmark ornament.

The NY Daily News is finally looking (internally) to fill the vacant night “Shack” job (crime and breaking news, often rewrite too). It’s a job I held for years before covering courts.

OFC, because Alden won’t pay a living wage, the pay is $10K+ less than back in ‘15 for the same job.

Shameful.

"Friends" is a beloved American sitcom that aired from 1994 to 2004, following six young adults-Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe - living in New York City. The show explores their friendships, romances, careers, and personal growth over ten seasons.

And here we have alleged texts by Damon Jones, one asking for payment in advance of a rigged poker game, the other assuring his co-conspirators he knows what he's doing.

"Let me hibachi like Gilbert Arenas."

Here's the alleged text exchange between Robert "Black Rob" Stroud and Sophia "Pookie " Wei, about the Vegas game, where Wei notes that Billups won two improbable hands against the same victim. Stroud then says the victim was "star struck."

It took two tries to get this character, which will haunt my dreams until the day I die.

This is going to be a controversial choice, but I 100 percent stand by it.

Such an insipid mess of a game.

The books aren’t funny, per se, but this chapter transition always makes me chuckle.

Google's AI seems to do a bang-up job recapping Survivor. (Spoilers for the Australia season, sort of, except for all the stuff that isn't actually spoilers.)

Well worth the environmental damage!

This has been my list so far this year. I don’t know why
“The City We Became” took me a month. Must have been a schedule thing.

Mostly genre stuff for me, as usual.

Update from NH state police in the Giuliani crash lines up w/ what his ppl have been saying:

“Investigators believe the driver who struck Goodman and Giuliani had no connection to the initial domestic violence incident.”

It’s possible other driver crashed because she was curious about DV scene.

Whenever the @nydnunion.bsky.social does something fun like telling Heath Freeman’s Hamptons neighbors what a goon he is, we get an email filled with gibberish like this.

What Jean won’t say is she thinks a “fair agreement” is actually 2.5 % raise so small it won’t restore our COVID pay cuts.
