I guess this is a sign to other phd students to not assume editors are just being polite but to actually take them up on what they say - it can lead to publication in your preferred journal!

The first time I sent in the paper, it was rejected with an encouragement to resubmit it in the future. I’m happy I took that seriously (I was close to taking it as a defeat)

In my humble opinion, it went super well. A nice and cozy conference with super engaged participants - international, diverse perspectives but still small enough that we got to know each other. I hope we can repeat it

We’re in an old building connected to a church, and regularly a bell will ring. The person speaking will continue and pretend it isn’t ringing, but it’s clear they are taken aback every time it happens lol
