Im in FL; the governor and state legislature forbids state spending for anything they deem "DEI" which includes anything remotely mentioning race/gender, including conferences and org memberships. Faculty are free to pay their own way, but often have to take vacation to attend.

Saw evidence that a major FL state university is requiring that profs check yes/no if the conference they’re applying for school funding to go to (or their presentation) tries to “divide” people according to race/gender/sex/etc and other similar “criteria.” if they select yes, then no funding

Just like the lies about Black and Latino graduation ceremonies this isn’t about exclusion it’s about whose concerns are centered in shared spaces.
