Like, in another timeline it probably would have been nice to have "Megurine Luka SV2 Megacunt XLS" with 50 different sliders that all sound the same, but I like that vsynths now have multiple baskets for people to put their eggs in while this new frontier's being figured out.

It is however an approach that seems to be drawn entirely from desire rather than commercial advantage, so will still be niche.

Regardless of what grievances users may have about AI being prominent, it appears to be the most optimal for developers, users and voice providers.

This combined with how Standard banks work in SVS2 gives me some amount of hope re: the market position of vocal types pre-AI.

Maybe someday we'll get a large expanse of commercial banks produced in different ways, with AI just being the umbrella that facilitates them.

What WILL be interesting is how XLS works with the bank and how it will stack up to Miku V3e and V4e.

Similar to when we saw a snippet of this demo a few months back, my stance is relatively unchanged.

Even if it's not a huge leap and could potentially sound inferior in places, it's what one would expect from a modern CFM voicebank, so I'm content.

I've gone on record before that more fans of game franchises should approach their recommendations less with "This is where you SHOULD start" and more "Assuming you're gonna play only one, play this one"

With that in mind, I wouldn't be mad if newcomers went straight to OUAK.

And even then, the argument could be made it's the best one because it has SO MUCH going for it.

I just feel inclined to rank W❤️K higher because it felt like such a tight and cohesive experience where everything slots in perfectly, while OUAK is more of a kitchen sink approach.
