I wonder what's going to happen with Ashley Hatch. Utah would love to have her (for a bunch of reasons). And we've got a log-jam on the front line. I would hate to see her go but I wouldn't be shocked.

I think this deal doesn't happen unless Cantore sings the praises of the coach and organization.

Thanks for the thoughts. And have a great New Year's Eve celebration (whatever that looks like for you).

Some people have been quick to say "well, there are 120 plus players who meet the criteria" it's more accurate to say that they meet "some" of the criteria. The review committee could easily say "well, you make the Guardian's list of top 100 players but don't have enough USWNT minutes".

What is your take on this signing? And frankly, though the Spirit haven't been making many announcements, it looks like they've got a couple of major actions plus some implications (ie: what impact does the signing of Di Guglielmo have on what other defenders are on the roster?).

Hmmm.....I wonder...is this about freeing up cap room? Or a decision based on performance? Or just trying to be good for a player (who wanted to go elsewhere to get more minutes)? Inquiring minds want to know.

Especially since US Intelligence found that at the start of the initial invasion, Russia had targeted Zelenskyy and his family.

But other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?

Woah!
December 24, 2025 at 8:45 PM
Wacky. This HIP concept and list is just stupid.

How comical!

I was not originally a fan of Carle but she had an excellent 2025 and she seems to fit very well what Gonzalez wants to do tactically.

For instance, if I was hiring a coach (for a woman's team), I'd want to know their vision, how they ran their practices, who their assistants would likely be, their attitude towards analytics, how they'd prefer to play (or how they saw the talent base on the team fitting a specific tactical scheme).

I think the larger point is this: in evaluating a coaching candidate, you can't just look at their positions or clubs. For instance, Montse Tome' has outstanding credentials on paper--long time NT assistant, then NT head coach, and a woman. But the NT players considered her part of the problem.

Absolute insanity. It would make you think that the NWSL is some semi-pro backwater league and American players might become worthy of the world stage in another couple of decades.

Sad but true.

Many people who are 60-70-80 contribute significantly. But they contribute in different ways from people who are 20-30. And the tax base shrinks as you have fewer people 20-50 years old. That isn't a problem if your population isn't aging. It is a huge problem if your population is aging.
December 13, 2025 at 2:13 AM
No, I'm not assuming that people 60+ are drags. But they do end up using more healthcare, more social support (like Social Security). Meanwhile, you have a smaller cohort of 20 year-old bodies to do things that younger bodies handle better--cops on the beat, construction, combat infantry (cont.)
December 13, 2025 at 2:11 AM
Nah. I'm looking at age demographics. Take Japan: 35% of their population is 60 or older. There reaches a point where you don't have sufficient tax payers (regardless of racial/ethnic makeup) to pay for governmental services AND the net for the aging. The US is already at that point.
December 12, 2025 at 1:40 AM
Yep. Clueless administration.
December 11, 2025 at 7:20 PM
People don't get how critical this issue is. Especially for Japan, China, the US, Russia, and all Western Economies.
