occasionally, I stumble.
It's fine
as long as I stick the landing,
but occasionally as I look around
I wonder if I haven't stumbled
into a parallel universe
where things seem the same
at first
but slowly reveal differences
I did not suspect.

To me last night.

Like we used to-
Before you fell in love,
Got married
Raised a family,
grew old and sedentary.
When you were lonely
I comforted you-
When you were lost
I guided you-

Holding tight against the storm
Wrapped up in the sleepless dark
Trying to stay warm.
