A remarkable stat: Heidi Alexander’s appointment as Transport Secretary means the cabinet is now 100% state-educated for the first time in history.

Love to see the Tories fall into the trap of making wealthy landowners and private schools their two main target demographics. Centre ground well and truly vacated. #pmqs

Sometimes I think about the fact that the dominant ‘popular history’ of the 70s among educated left of centre types was written by a guy who says inflation is basically a fake problem ‘moral panic’ and people couldn’t really have been mad about it
The revealed preference of voters everywhere for a very long time is a willingness to tolerate all kinds of economic turmoil over high inflation and mortgage payments

Insane how I didn't see just how cursed X had become until I joined Bluesky. Like a frog being boiled alive.

Though there are obviously big differences there's something of the Cummings/Johnson dynamic here. Two people thinking they're using the other one to achieve diametrically opposite objectives following a brief period where their interests matched.
I see Musk is complaining that the US govt has spent $8trn more than it has taxed in the last *eight* years, and this is a problem (he's right there - it is).

But it's also impossible to reconcile that complaint with Trumpism. There has to be a falling out if one or the other doesn't submit.
