Dick Miller! Yes, he’s another staple. Love whenever he shows up in movies.

Love @daytonward.bsky.social’s Trek books and this cover absolutely slaps. Looks like it might be taking place post-season 3 too. Definitely stoked for this one!

Just finished the SYFY show, #Revival (based on the comic of the same name) w/Melanie Scrofano. Turned out to be a really fun and inventive sci-fi/horror-adjacent show with some cool and unique ideas! Admittedly, it bit off a bit more than it could chew by the end, but gotta respect the ambition.

Wow - Timely that I seemed to revisit this show now. RIP Graham Greene. A trailblazing actor with some iconic roles on his resume. He's fantastic in DEFIANCE.

This is a movie that not just depicts but actively celebrates the hard work of old-school wheat farming as an act of resistance to fascism. What better podcast to listen to for Labor Day?

Not sure how well the whole show will hold up, but the first few episodes have been a lot of fun. Genre shows like this just seem to always have a strong comfort food element for me. Really dug these 'saberwolf' creatures we see in the pilot ep!

Recently started re-watching the scifi show DEFIANCE, from 2013. Vibe-wise, It's an interesting intersection between the space opera shows of the 90s and some of the more modern Canadian scifi shows we're seeing today (i.e. REVIVAL or SURREAL ESTATE).

“Alebrijes: Keepers of the Island” - an outdoor exhibition on Raspberry Island in St. Paul. Super cool intersection between mythical creatures, folk art, and Mexican culture. If you’re in town, definitely hit this one up!

So many things get lost in the streaming shuffle, but watching K-POP DEMON HUNTERS reminds me there a few a few banger animated films just hanging out that truly deserve a physical release.

Apart from ‘K-Pop,’ THE SEA BEAST & ORION AND THE DARK were similarly great yet seem somewhat forgotten.

Ahh so student loan forgiveness without Congress is a bridge too far. Unilaterally bombing other countries without Congress, though? Yeah, that’s fine. 🙄

Reading through MERMAID SAGA by Rumiko Takahashi. It’s quite a bit different than her work on INYUASHA, definitely means more horror than fantasy. The mythology and lore is great.

Really loving the ‘lost souls’ - great creature design and an effectively horrific concept.

It’s been a while, forgot how fun seeing live music can be!

Just finished THE HOLLOWS by Daniel Church (@dannythechurch.bsky.social). There's something special for me about remote, small-town monster horror — bonus points for being snowy!

This book ruled. Great creatures, ancient unknowable horror, and a fun cast of characters to follow. Recommended!

Sparkling water fans: don’t seep on Sauna Water from Portage Brewing in northern Minnesota. A tad on the spendy side, but worth it. Very unique flavor profile!

A little matinee date! Got to catch a nice, lazy Sunday afternoon showing of Ryan Coogler’s SINNERS (which ruled, by the way). Love going to see movies in the theater 🍿 🎥

Christopher Plummer absolutely slays in this movie.

Rewatching STAR TREK VI for #FirstContactDay. Real fun to see a pre-Odo René Auberjonois pop up in the director’s cut as Colonel West. Wild that he still had these mission plans printed out on large papers in the Star Trek future.

And one positive thing about Flux. I actually really liked the design of the antagonists here. Definitely giving some colorful cenobite energy and I'm always here for that.

Recently finished Jodie Whittaker's run on DOCTOR WHO and, while the Flux season was a bit of a mess, I really enjoyed her tenure overall!

"Rosa" & "Demons of the Punjab" were some all time great eps, and I loved the dynamic with her companions. Overall had a great time with the fam!

Got lots of opinions on the movie LIFEFORCE, but one indisputable fact is that Frank Finlay’s trans flag tie rules 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍⚧️

Re-watched the new Star Trek movie ( #Section31 ) for an upcoming @dslovepod.bsky.social episode & came to the conclusion that, despite most of the fandom likely feeling otherwise, Fuzz rules.

Also, really dug the whole Nanokin concept as a new alien race in Trek. Wouldn't mind seeing more of them!

Saw COMPANION in the theater & loved it. Jack Quaid and Sophie Thatcher were both fantastic. Would make a good ‘men are trash’ double feature with Zoë Kravitz’s recent BLINK TWICE-or, alternatively, a good ‘humans will (of course) not handle AI well’ double feature with a TERMINATOR.
