Oh. I don't do this. Squashing causes problems when you rename a file and also make changes to it. It can no longer track the file if you change too much of it. Also I like history.

You can very easily hide merge commits and only see one "level" of commits with git settings

"Squash, rebase and merge" is all the things. I don't understand how that is a strategy
