Previous forecasts of humans being replaced by tech didn't materialize because AI progress hit a wall. Two years ago that wall was shattered by OpenAI, and now when a new wall was hit due to high training energy costs, DeepSeek shattered that wall. So yes, it seems this time will be different.
AI will complement Labour as well as substitute for it. Most likely in the same way that previous waves of information technology did.

It's fun to see $VOO up and $VUAA tremendously down, even when both track the SP500. The fact that London is one step behind New York translates far beyond the time difference.

Twitter has become unusable because Elon is forcing himself on every inch of the platform. However, Bluesky users are not committing themselves to making it a real alternative yet.

UnitedHealth maximizes profits, as it should. Small profits don't attract investors. Government’s role is to remove barriers to competition. If better alternatives exist, what barriers stop users from switching?
Removing those barriers is more effective than asking CEOs to attract less investment.

#Trump and #Elon praise libertarian Javier Milei for slashing spending and taming inflation in Argentina, but they forget to mention the tremendous rise in poverty and indigence these measures have caused. It's easy to tame inflation when people don't have money to spend.

GDP PPP is not optimal when comparing economy sizes, it works better on a per-capita basis. This chart says China's output could buy more basic baskets of goods than the US, and they should bc they have more ppl, however it doesn't mean it could buy more oil, steel, gold or chips than the US.

Elon and Trump praise Putin, but he 2x the number of bureocrats monitoring the economy between 2008 and 2013, raised taxes and harshly diminished economic freedom. The result: the stock market fell almost 40% from 2008 to 2020, even before covid and the war. He is the antithesis of what they preach.

It is hard to empathize with people who think the only way economically successful people got there is by cheating or luck, no matter how much you want to help improve the living conditions of the less fortunate. I mean, what are they going to do if one day they try to be successful?
