The I’s text is much better. “Enduring” is a suitable verb. But still use a fun in the sun style picture. And no mention of climate change

This is an unhinged front page from the UK’s Daily Mirror. Giving the hundreds of deaths and the boost to beach economies equal prominence

The BBC pretending Kneecap aren’t playing at 4pm on the West Holts Stage #Glastonbury

London Zoo highlighting a huge problem (top) and a completely inadequate solution (bottom).

To keep plastic from the ocean, we need to stop making so much of it - not just cleaning up beaches.

The US has been entirely absent from these climate talks in Bonn

Absolutely packed room for an event on scaling up adaptation in national climate plans. Is adaptation no longer the Cinderella of the climate debate?

Spotted at London Victoria train station. The journey to the airport is not the environmentally damaging part of air travel!

Dont email yourself a reminder to commit crime 🤦🏻‍♂️

Easy for outflows to be “record” when there hasn’t really been outflows before.

Think it’s too early to say whether there’s a trend away from ESG funds in Europe, although growth definitely looks to be slowing at least.

There media were kept seperate to all other delegates and most sessions are either available online or private.

So I went back out to speak to Lauren MacDonald, the lead campaigner for Stop Rosebank - a British oil and gas production project

Ministers and officials from 60ish governments around the world have to pass these protesters on the way in to the IEA/UK energy security summit today.

Banner says “no new oil and gas” and chanting “we want to keep living, no more oil, no more drilling”

Does interest in climate change spike on Earth Day? Google Trends suggests "yes". Every recent year looks like this from 2024.

As Donald Trump says he wants to promote US coal mining, a reminder that he failed to reverse coal’s decline in his first term. Its use has been going down since 2010 www.eia.gov/energyexplai...

The IEA's map of low-carbon (ie green and blue) hydrogen projects. Green means its up and running. Red means its just an idea.

A BBC story which misleadingly blamed COP30 for a road being built on the outskirts of Belem has gone viral. Sadly, instead of all the worthwhile initiatives from dedicated people around the world, I think this is the one thing most people will hear about COP30.

Trump’s Energy Secretary on clean cooking here. He’s right it’s a huge issue but the COP for it is the climate COP, which already has lots of discussion of it. If he thinks there should be more, he can make that happen.

Looking at satellite imagery of the old airport turned park that will host #COP30. They've conformed to Brazilian stereotype by putting the football pitches in first.

How the newspaper front pages covered the UK governments cuts to overseas aid 👇

The black line shows how much cleaning up the UK’s emissions will cost. Billions a year until about 2040 when it starts saving billions.

Cost cutting?!

Here’s a map of US wind energy projects. Green is operational, yellow is under construction, orange is pre-construction, red is announced.

Trump declares an “energy emergency” but in the next sentence announces restrictions on the supply of American wind energy

If someone tells you its sunny and someone else says its raining, you don't just report both views, you look out the window. BBC have failed to do that here. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

If they had, they'd have found @dougparr.bsky.social is right. www.carbonbrief.org/analysis-uk-...

This is quite an encouraging chart. While climate change is getting worse and worse, its killing less and less people (at least up to the 2010s). That's because governments are preparing better, the @wmo-global.bsky.social says. www.climatechangenews.com/2024/11/11/i...
