@joelavellesongs.bsky.social
Songwriter in Los Angeles. Special fondness for my once adopted home of New Orleans. Supporter of indie film and small local cinemas. Supporter of local live entertainment.
Will answer to He or She pronouns, They isn’t really my thing but I’m fine with it.
I hate that I heard the quote part in his voice.

I paid no heed to the jaded older kids. “Blue Dress” became “our song” for my highschool girlfriend and me. She even got a blue dress for Junior Prom.

Seasoned DM fans laughed at me and told me it was their worst album and that I couldn’t call myself a Depeche Mode fan if I liked it.
(in a very similar way to how Bauhaus fans told me I couldn’t be a Bauhaus fan if I liked Love & Rockets)

I remember loving Violator when it came out. I was a young teen and I was certainly *aware* of Depeche Mode but I hadn’t taken any kind of deep dive yet. Violator was the first DM album I got to experience as a new release.

I love this for you.

(well, not the difficult journey part but I’m thrilled about the triumph & reward part!)

I paused on yours just to appreciate that wonderful caption before realizing it was your entry in a fun quote post chain.
Thank you for sharing that, I love it.

If the company wants to internalize responsibility for something, how about internalizing responsibility for keeping all employees safe?
That would be a great thing to internalize responsibility for.

So sorry for this.
“We wouldn’t want to ruin someone’s reputation” makes me want to tear my hair out.
Why does the system feel need to internalize responsibility in this way? *He* ruined his reputation. *He* did that! Where the hell does “We wouldn’t want to” come from?

After years in the service industry, I studied bookkeeping then found my way into accounting positions.
I didn’t have a shrieking raging mother experience but with years in the service industry I had no end of shrieking raging customer service experiences.
In the accounting department, none of that.

Why doesn’t this article clarify whether the “Mean Girls” on his list is the original or the movie adaptation of the stage musical?
Knowing the answer to that will make a huge difference in my opinion of this Pope.

I’ve known enough New Orleans gay waiters to know that garbage food is to be paired with White Zinfandel.

We could talk about how “another” is “an” + “other” but that’s a whole other issue*.

*not “a whole nother issue”
